This year’s mother’s day is a unique one.
“Why?” you may ask.
Well, every few years or so, Mother’s Day lands on my birthday.
And this is one of those years.
I’ve flown back to my hometown to be with her (and for my brother’s wedding, of course) and to spend some time with family and friends.
So with this wonderful holiday upon us, I wanted to take some time to write this letter to my mom, as well as to all you mommies out there celebrating Mother’s Day with your own families.
Happy Mother’s Day! From, Your Baby
You are incredible.
Your kindness, loyalty, dedication, and patience make you my best friend.
You work so hard to make my life better and easier for me, even if it sometimes complicates things for you.
I love that you tell me your secrets, and I can tell you mine.
On my way home from a long day, or when there’s great news to share, you’re the one I want to talk to.
Like when we adopted Dobby.
You celebrate my successes as if they were your own.
Like in starting Tutor in Tinseltown.
And support me when I’m not quite as successful.
Let’s just pretend Organic Chem never happened, shall we?
I know you’re always thinking about me. Whether I’m one room over, or 3 time zones away, that never changes.
Nena, I haven’t heard from you in days!! Is everything ok?!
You’ve always been warm and welcoming to my friends, and you treat my partner like he’s your second son.
Like by sending us matching Christmas onesies.
He wears his nearly every day.
Whether I’m near or far, single as can be, or soon-to-be married, I will always be your little one.
Even though I do make you a grandma every few years
with all my shelter adoptions!
I love you to the ends of the world and back, and I hope you never forget it.
Happy Mother’s Day momma!
With all my love,
Steph
